What is Death and Disability Cover?
The purpose of death and disability insurance policies is to cover the risk of death or disability of the policyholder.
These contracts may include additional guarantees such as temporary incapacity to work and permanent disability.
How Does it Work?
This type of contract provides for the payment of an annuity or a capital sum, depending on the option chosen by the policyholder and indicated in the contract, in the event of the occurrence of one of the above-mentioned risks.
In the event of a claim, the Insurer must be notified of the claim and the supporting documents. Payment of the benefit is made within the period stipulated in the contract.
The benefit is paid:
in the event of the policyholder's disability or incapacity, to the policyholder him/herself;
in the event of the death of the policyholder, to the beneficiaries designated in the insurance contract. If no beneficiary is designated or if there is no longer a beneficiary at the death of the policyholder, the guaranteed capital/annuity becomes part of the policyholder's inheritance.
Type of Insurance :
Death & Disability insurance is an insurance of persons that can be taken out individually or as part of a group insurance.
In the context of a professional activity, the Employer may take out a group contract to which the Employees can subscribe by signing an application form.
The Employer, in its capacity as the group contract's subscriber, is required to provide each member with a notice, to be drawn up by the Insurer, which defines the benefits and the conditions for their entry into force, as well as the formalities to be completed in the event of a claim.
