As part of its mission to protect policyholders, the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), in concert with the Moroccan Insurance Federation (FMA), has conducted an in-depth study on the introduction of new procedures relating to the effective date of travel assistance contracts.

To this end, the general public is advised that, when taking out a travel assistance contract, policyholders should check that the effective date of the contract, generally specified in the special conditions, corresponds to the planned date of travel. This precaution gives the insured the possibility of postponing the effective date or cancelling the contract.

The insured may request that the effective date of the contract be postponed to coincide with the new date of travel, or that it be cancelled, provided that the contract has not yet taken effect.

ACAPS and the FMA therefore urge all travellers to take this information into consideration when taking out their assistance contract, so as to benefit from optimum cover in the event of unforeseen circumstances.
