The Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) hosted a delegation from the Authority of Regulation and Control of Insurance of the Democratic Republic of Congo (ARCA) for technical assistance and expertise exchange between February 19th and 27th, 2024.

During the visit, ACAPS' Chairman, Abderrahim Chaffai, and ARCA's Director General, Alain Kaninda Ngalul, engaged in discussions on various mutual concerns, focusing on enhancing bilateral cooperation in insurance supervision and control. They both expressed a shared commitment to establishing a comprehensive framework for sharing experiences, best practices, and supporting each other through advice and capacity building.

The ARCA delegation's visit covered topics such as reinsurance regulations, insurance supervision, compliance, and combating money laundering and terrorism financing. This mission aligns with the 2017 memorandum of understanding signed between ACAPS and ARCA, which aims to foster cooperation and growth in the insurance sector through knowledge and expertise exchange.

Furthermore, ACAPS has embraced South-South cooperation as a pivotal component of its international cooperation strategy. Operating at a continental scale, the regulatory body emphasizes capacity enhancement, knowledge exchange, and skill-sharing. It also focuses on fostering alliances and partnerships, especially with neighboring countries, to devise bespoke solutions that address local challenges effectively.
