The Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) has just received three certifications, confirming its commitment to information security, data confidentiality, and quality of services and transparency.
This triple certification is the result of an ongoing commitment by ACAPS to comply with international requirements and standards in order to improve the quality and security of its services and to strengthen the protection of personal data.
In this context, it should be noted that these certifications have been obtained by ACAPS according to three international standards:
- ISO 27001 (version 2013), the only international standard that defines the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). This certification attests to ACAPS' constant desire to strengthen the protection of its information assets and control the risks related to information security, through the implementation of an Information Security Management System built on the basis of an international reference standard.
- The standard ISO 27701 (version 2019) relating to the protection of privacy within the framework of the management of risks related to the processing of personal data. ACAPS is the first regulator in Africa to be certified according to this standard. This certification guarantees the secure processing of personal data collected by ACAPS. It reflects ACAPS' ongoing commitment to the security and confidentiality of the data of its employees, partners, reporting entities, insureds, affiliates and members and its commitment to compliance with the laws in force relating to data confidentiality.
- The ISO 9001 (version 2015) standard for the claims treatment process of insured persons, members and subscribers. This international standard, which establishes the requirements for a quality management system, confirms the determination of ACAPS to meet the expectations of complainants and the constant mobilization of its human resources for the continuous improvement of the processes dedicated to the protection of policyholders and members.
It is to be reminded that the claims treatment by ACAPS is done according to a multi-channel approach which gives the possibility to the insured and affiliates to send their claims in paper or digital format via an electronic platform.
