The Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS) organized a Master Class for journalists in Casablanca on June 06, on the theme of "online distribution of insurance products".
Hosted by ACAPS experts, the event provided an opportunity to review the various issues surrounding the online distribution of insurance products, including the legal framework governing it and the opportunities it offers to operators and policyholders. This event is part of the campaign to promote the digitalization of the insurance sector, with a view to improving the insurance penetration rate and promoting financial inclusion.
On July 1, 2022, ACAPS published an instruction on electronic devices for the online distribution of insurance products, which incorporates the main rules governing distance contracts set out in Act no. 31-08 on consumer protection measures, the dahir establishing the Code of Obligations and Contracts, Act no. 53-05 on the electronic exchange of legal data, and certain provisions of Act no. 17-99 on the Insurance Code applicable to online distribution.
This instruction, which aims to streamline the process of setting up online distribution solutions, sets out the terms and conditions to be observed by insurance and reinsurance companies, insurance intermediaries and other entities authorized to present insurance operations to the public, in order to set up an electronic online distribution solution for the conclusion of insurance contracts.
