The three financial sector authorities: Bank Al-Maghrib, the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC), the Supervisory Authority of Insurance and Social Welfare (ACAPS), held on February 25, 2022, in partnership with the National Authority for Probity, Prevention and Fight against Corruption (INPPLC), their second annual high-level meeting under the Cooperation Agreement in the field of prevention and fight against corruption in the financial sector, signed between the four institutions in November 2019.

This meeting was devoted to reviewing the implementation of the said Agreement in 2021 and approving the roadmap for the coming year.
The year 2021 was characterized by the achievement of several actions aiming to sustain the sectoral momentum for the prevention and fight against corruption. The large-scale awareness campaign, launched in 2020, was thus pursued in 2021 for the benefit of more than 160 executives and managers, representing nearly 120 actors in the financial sector (payment institutions, capital market participants, insurance and reinsurance companies, and social welfare organizations). This campaign was concluded by drafting a guide intended for all the sector’s actors for a better comprehension of the concepts and methods related to the anti-corruption mechanisms. In a similar vein, the finalization of a mapping of corruption risks in the banking sector would allow an appropriate delineation of the associated control measures.

The roadmap for the year 2022 targets the reinforcement of specialized awareness and training actions, the creation of opportunities of expertise sharing with national and international actors, supporting the implementation of anti-corruption measures in line with the ISO 37001 standard and the development of guidelines aiming to ensure their monitoring.

The four authorities thereby renew their commitment to consolidate and strengthen sectoral cooperation in the prevention and fight against corruption, in the aftermath of the national strategy in this regard.
